SolidWorks 2009 crashing with Office 2007

This was big news about a month ago but it isn’t now. My company was the one who actually beat the devs into making a patch. Basically SolidWorks would crash with or just crash office 2007. This seemed to be more frequent with Vista x64.

Here was the error

Windows 7

Well, I installed Windows 7 on Monday and I wanted to try upgrading to see how it was. If you frequent this blog(If you do I don’t know why) you will have seen my review on my Sony laptop and notice it’s a pretty good piece of metal.(It rates 5.0 on the windows scale!)

Needless to say it was the worst mistake I have made since signing up for Bank of America. SLOWWWWWWW is a understatement. I had to wait 5 minutes for the right click dialog box to come up. Props to Sony though, the Sony control center did registry scans and optimizations and got my boot time from 10 minutes to 2 and increased the speed around 150%. However, I ended up doing a clean install anyways.

Now before you Mac fan boys say ” OS X FTW w00t!” let me just say…. Its ok Microsoft, I understand. Upgrading a operation system is really really hard. So if you cant master it, next time don’t include that option.

Now the Mac ripping; So Mac OS X runs on Unix right? Unix is really really powerful and is also….. OPEN SOURCE! Now I will go out on a limb here and say I will go buy a Mac when Apple does the following:

  1. Makes OS X open source (Required)
  2. Stop ripping on pc(see foot rant)
  3. 3 Makes iTunes TV shows DRM FREE(optional).

Now apple, NO ONE LIKES A TATTLE TAIL!! Stop running around whining “LOOK WHAT PC DID!” Instead make commercials like you did for the iPhone, showing the raw power of OS X. Or maybe you are just compensating for something.

My thoughts on this topic, Windows 7 is a great operation system but…… Linux(Open source) FTW!

Assassins Creed 2

Well this is my first post in this category so let’s get right to it. WHAT THE HELLL UBISOFT. I want to preorder Assassins Creed 2 but apparently the collector’s edition in the United States is limited to the Xbox and the PS3. What the hell? That doll is so cool. I want one! However thanks to Ubisoft that is not possible. Because they love screwing people over! While we’re on the topic of game companies, why don’t all the game companies release DRM free versions of their games? Even if they rereleased them a year after the release date so be it. I am sick and tired of picking up a game I want to replay like Bioshock and having to activate it once again. DRM MAKES ME ANGRYYYYYY. Great first post I think.

Started Blogging

I have always wanted to blog recreationally because I find sharing of general information helpful to the internet. How many time have you searched for a problem and couldn’t find the answer? Chances are someone was encountered that same problem and solved it and didn’t share their solution or not present it in a easy to find and understandable way. Well by blogging I hope to maybe help some people with there problems and maybe make some money from adds. Who knows if I can keep this up. As many of you know blogs are notorious for starting up and posting posts for apologizing for not posting more often. I swear I will never do this. If I forget I promised this please comment and tell me I am a lying bastard.
